Description
Griffith Observatory and Monument. Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park. Built in 1935. Architects John C. Austin, Frederick M. Ashley. The figures on the Monument represent; Hipparchus(125 B.C.), Copernicus (1500), Galileo (1600), Kepler (1600), Isaac Newton (1700), Herschel (1800). Albert Einstein was consdered, but they decided not to put anyone still alive on the monument.
